The night before we hit the trail - our packs. Guess which one is mine - nope, its the bigger one of the two. We tried to take weight out of it and make it smaller, but it didn't work. Randy carried the heavier stuff, while I carried the lighter, bulkier items. See this page for the full list of everything that I took.

As for food on the trip, we ate much more luxuriously than we should have as backpackers. Meals consisted of:

Breakfast: tea, pancakes or oatmeal, or just energy bars, if we needed to get up and moving quickly

Lunch/Snacks: Water, Gatorade or Tang, Clif Bars, Power Bars, Clif Shots (small packets of gel that are loaded with caffeine and carbohydrates), Ramen, trail mix - two types: the basic peanuts, M&Ms and raisins mix; then a "gourmet mix" of dried berries, cashews, acorns, macadamia nuts, almonds and walnuts. Turns out we didn't like the latter too much - it needed some sort of high end chocolate. So we left it behind for other hikers at the ranger stations.

Dinner: A Backpacker's Pantry meal (dehydrated meal, just add boiling water) supplemented with angel hair pasta, with the occasional dessert of cheesecake (works just like the dinner meal). Beef Jerky was an appetizer. Also took a few nips from the flask of Gentlemen Jack whiskey for the first seven days, then Johnny Walker Black the rest of the trip. I prefer the latter. Condiments consisted of seasoned pepper and Chipolte Tabasco Sauce.

We didn't carry 10 days of food with us - at the most we carried enough for five, plus an emergency meal. We had food stashed at the rangers stations at Mowich Lake and Sunrise, including replenishments for the pasta, drink mixes, some canned fruit, Ramen noodles and the rest of our energy bars.
