Day 9: July 21 - Indian Bar to Maple Creek
The next two days were certainly not as interesting as the previous eight days, just long, but they had some great visuals.
This was our second to last day and was a bit easier and less mentally straining, just a long 10 miles. We climbed out of Indian Bar and left this lovely landscape behind us...

and trekked along, approaching the Cowlitz Divide...

and stopped for some pictures in front of The Mountain.

We hiked down six miles, going through a drive-in park at Box Canyon (below), then rested at Nickel Creek and trekked on to Maple Creek.

We crammed three tents into a one-tent space for the extremely warm and humid night, the hottest of the trip. The bugs were pretty bad here - more flies than mosquitoes. Bed was at dusk, as we had to be up at 4 a.m. for the long slog to Longmire.
