Day 1 - Thursday, July 26, 2007

We leave Poulsbo at 6:30 a.m. and drive 3 hours and 30 minutes west to the Hoh Rain Forest, where we hike the Hoh River Valley trail to the base of the mountain. We hiked in 15 miles to Martin Creek Camp before shrugging off our heavy packs and making camp for the night. We had a scare with a momma bear and her cubs who were keeping an eye on us!

The Hoh Rainforest is one of the only rainforests the exists in the North America. Very green, lots of moss and gi-normous cedars, like this one. Keep in mind, Randy has a wingspan of about 6 feet.

Yay, 13.1 miles in, 2 more to go until camp!
