Ohio Crew Annual Camping Trip - La Push/Second Beach

October 2005

Every summer/fall, the OU crew from Seattle gets together for a camping trip, where cheap beer, wine and food are devoured, as well as a little music. Sometimes. Our acoustic guitarists decided to stay home this year and watch the Tribe lose their chance to get into the World Series. And then the trail to this awesome camp site closed due to conflicts between the Quinault Tribe and Washington State. The picture above is the view from our campsite, in the woods, off the beach. It's quite possibly the most perfect place in the world.

I just like this picture. We climbed to the top of the boulder to the left.

Jon being one with the driftwood.

Setting up camp. We fit four tents in three tiny spots.

MMMMMM. Hobosacks.

So Dad gets me a camping trinket every year for Christmas. A few years ago, the trinket was a roll of string from Coleman. I knew its purpose but wasn't sure when I'd ever use it. Sure enough, two years later, I bring it along, just for the heck of it and it finally meets its destiny as bear string (i.e. hoisting our food away from the site).

After a day of extensive exploring on the beach, jumping around eel grass bulbs, climbing to the tops of large beach boulders, (similar to the one in the background here), poking at anemones and starfish, watching waves crash all over the place, doing some star watching, we crashed woke up and headed out.
